Abdominoplasty

WHAT IS ABDOMINOPLASTY?
The abdominoplasty is a procedure to reduce the excessive skin and fat around the abdomen and strengthen the muscle of abdominal wall. This procedure results in an aesthetically pleasing abdomen. With the rise in bariatric surgery, the abdominoplasty has become a significant resource to help these patients with an excess abdominal tissue after their weight loss.

The shape and length of the incision will be determined by the amount of excess skin. Once the abdominal skin is lifted, the underlying weakened abdominal muscles are repaired.

A second incision around the navel may be necessary to remove excess skin in the upper abdomen. The upper abdominal skin is pulled down like a window shade. The excess skin is trimmed and the remaining skin is sutured together. A new opening for the belly button is created. The belly button is popped through to the surface and sutured into position.

Usually the skin below the navel level is completely removed, and the remaining skin area below the navel level is lowered. Thus, the abdominal skin becomes tense and flattened. If there is an opening in the middle line between the abdominal muscles during aesthetic abdominal lifting surgery (diastasis) this opening is closed and the muscles are brought closer to each other in the middle line. However, as a result of this operation, a long scar will remain horizontally in the bikini line. This scar is due to stitching of the lower edge of the abdominal skin, which is stretched upsides down and the excess part is removed.

WHO ARE THE BEST CANDIDATES?
Those whose body measurements are close to normal but who can not get rid of excesses in spite of diet or abdominal exercises, are the best candidates. Therefore, it is useful to lose some weight before surgery. In addition, on those who have sagging or relaxation on the abdominal skin after a few births, decrease in skin elasticity over time, abdominoplasty can be performed. Also, if you’re planning on having children again, you should think carefully before deciding on surgery. A new study reveals that abdominoplasty surgerywith muscle repair can improve back painand lead to urinary incontinence after childbearing following returning to previous body measurements. WHAT ARE THE STEPS FOR APPLICATION ?
Especially 2 weeks before the surgery and 4 weeks after the surgery, you should never smoke. If there is a drug you use all the time, you should tell your doctor. Surgery Classic abdominal lifting surgery takes 2-3 hours depending on the size and width of the abdomen.

Mini abdominal stretching lasts about 1-2 hours. Your doctor makes the incision through which he planned before surgery. The incision in mini abdominal lifting is smaller and is not noticeable after surgery. In the classic abdominal stretching, the skin is separated from the abdominal wall up to the lower part of the ribs. The looseness of the abdominal muscles is repaired. This process ensures a flat abdomen and narrows your waist. The skin is pulled down and excess skin is removed. A new place is made for your belly. At the end of the operation, the patient is dressed in a suitable corset.

You feel a small amount of pain and tension after surgery. However, these complaints can be controlled with the medications you will use.Depending on the width of the surgery, you can go home on the same day or you can stay in the hospital for 2-3 days. Although you may not be able to stand up right at the beginning, you should get up and walk as soon as possible.

Aesthetic abdominal lifting surgery improves your physical appearance and increases your self-confidence. Complications that may occur in any surgical procedure may also occur in this procedure. Infection and bleeding may be rare among complications after plastic surgery. In case of infection, drainage and antibiotics are used. These problems are just problems that prolong wound healing a little bit. Smoking in particular is one of the factors that impair wound healing. Therefore, it is necessary to stop smoking before surgery. Smoking should be stopped 10 days before surgery. This should be interrupted, especially before surgery, as the body area should not stay in the sun and if a diet is applied, it may impair wound healing.

Other major surgeries can be performed with abdominal lifting surgery, but it does not recommend other major surgeries such as breast reduction or nose surgery as combined surgery.Especially in abdominal lifting surgery, large amounts of skin and fat tissue are removed. The application of another major surgery with this major surgery increases the trauma surface to be applied to the body and prolongs the duration of anesthesia. However, if you need the side of the abdomen, it can be combined with liposuction surgery to be notified to you by your doctor.

Postoperative
After aesthetic abdominal lifting surgery, there may be pain in the abdomen and a feeling of physical tension in the abdomen for a few days. Painkillers are used for these complaints. In the early cycle, the patient is encouraged to stand up and asked to walk. Nearly 10-15 permanent stitches are used. All of them are taken away on a later day. Dressing bandages are replaced with abdominal corset. Patients can go back to work in a week. Full recovery takes two weeks. The stitch scars on the abdomen were pink and prominent at first. Gradually, the color of the marks fades away. This process can take up to six days. The corset is used for 1.5-2 months.lm
